This week we are taking a short break, and next week we start our summer term. We charge per-lesson in the summer, so things are more flexible as we schedule around camps and vacations, such as they are right now. Further, we charge at the end of each month, so you only get charged for lessons taken. I do still request that you give me as much warning as possible before canceling or rescheduling a lesson.
Right now, we plan to start the summer online, and hope transition to in-person lessons as people feel comfortable. I want to wait until at least a couple weeks after this holiday weekend to have more information about how numbers are trending. If you are comfortable with online lessons, let’s plan on staying fully online for now. If you feel strongly that we need to return to in-person, I hope that can be a possibility by the end of June. If you will only take summer lessons if they can be in person, please let me know so I can add you to a list to reach out to when that happens.
Further, Eric is rearranging the studio as best he can to facilitate more space between families in the waiting room. Other teachers will be using the two largest rooms (the group room and the ‘library’). I will continue in my normal room, as it’s the largest of the private rooms, and will have two pianos so I can correct & demonstrate while staying distant. We will also ask people to wash their hands when they arrive and likely will request face masks be worn.
I have put my summer schedule on the My Music Staff website. I currently plan to teach evenings on Monday and Tuesday (5-8:15), and afternoons on Tuesday and Wednesday (1-3:45). If/when we transition to in person, afternoon times will be at my home, and evening times will be at the studio. With that in mind, afternoon times will likely remain online longer, as I expect my comfort level to take longer on that front. Each of those blocks ends with a 45 minute lesson for those of you who do that; if you take a 45 minute lesson and need a different time, let me know and we’ll find something that works. If you don’t take a 45 minute lesson, just make sure you don’t use one of those! Please feel free to log in and sign up for lessons as you please; every week, every other week, just one or two all summer, I am happy to see you at all. If you don’t have a MMS login, let me know; I can sign you up manually, but we should also get you a login so you can change lessons easily as the summer progresses.
Let me know by email what other questions or thoughts you might have on how I can best help you & your kids over the summer as we continue to figure out what normal looks like right now!
